Root of Darkness sneak preview

Friday the 1st of July we had a sneak preview of our coming feature Root of Darkness the day before Kultfilmsfestivalen (Den Magiska Biodagen) at theater Palladium in Alingsås, Sweden. It was fun to be able to show the movie for the first time. Gustav Ljungdahl the director was there including Jesper Danielsson, his co-writer and head star in Root of Darkness. The score is composed by the very talented Mark Kueffner. Produced by Jonas Wolcher and René Wiesner.

It's Erland's (Jesper Danielsson) 50th birthday, and his wife Greta (Katriina Ruottinen) has invited some of their friends and family to their cabin in the woods for a party - and frankly, he could be a whole lot happier about this, as not only does he not enjoy turning 50 or the people who plan on coming, he's also a hobby historian who for some reason just knows some historic artifacts are hidden somewhere on the premises, he has just so far failed to unearth them. But this time round he's lucky for a change - while taking care of the cesspit he finds some weird artefacts including an oddly chiselled skull. Somehow though his blood gets onto the skull which awakens something, then Greta's stung by a splinter from the artefact which causes a rash that soon covers her whole body, makes her head blow open ... and she turns into a monster. And with the guests about to come and being killed off by the monster as they arrive, it's up to Erland (in knight's armour) and the always helpful neighbour Leroy (Hugo Hilton-Brown) to ward of evil - even if they only have a diffuse idea how ... Special effects makeup classes at filmkollo.se

 Well today I held makeup classes at filmkollo.se in Främmestad, Nossebro Sweden
Each group consisted of 8 students got the task to do the most realistic wounds or scars. There was a young girl who totally blow me away. She wanted to to a snake bite wound. It looks very realistic if you compare to the real deal.

I also had one to make a stab wound in her forearm.

We had some lessons for latex and film blood from #kryolan makeup.

Now we have the poster ready for Roten av ondska / Root of darkness and the movie is finally finished after one year in production.

Nearly 60 years ago, writer/director Virgil W. Vogel’s SPACE INVASION OF LAPLAND was the first and the last monster movie to be made in Sweden. Now, native filmmaker Ola Paulakoski, along with his gang of horror enthusiasts, are changing all that, with a little inspiration from an old hermit and his dog.

Read on for the team’s comments and a batch of behind-the-scenes photos. Paulakoski, who previously directed 2005’s THE WEREWOLF CULT CHORNICLES: VIETNAM 1969, took some time in between editing to talk with FANGORIA about his latest horror/comedy, HERMIT: MONSTER KILLER.

This creature feature tells the story of a hermit hell-bent on revenge and a guerilla-clad rugby mascot running for his life, with one thing in common: an alien being that has crashed to earth, devouring anyone in its path. “It is very much a homage to old-school monster films and various Roger Corman flicks—everything from HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP to CARNOSAUR,” Paulakoski says. This animation made by Giovanni Braggio was just too good not to share. An animation in flash, background in photoshop and compositing in after effect, total duration of the project approximately 4 months. So much work, but the story is simple and so funny. Enjoy!

The Cannibal Chef plays the untrustworthy Web host manager

Meet this guy in a dark alley and you will probably shit your pants :)

Once again the cannibal chef Albin is in the loops of acting.
Malte Aronsson who also played the cannibal chef Albin in Cannibal Fog got a commercial gig in a competition for Loopia. Malte Aronsson plays the manager who runs Kentas Web och Sprit, "Kenta's Web and Moonshine". Kenta has everything in control and you as the visitor played by the cameraman hesitates while Kenta tries to convince you to put your company at his web hotel. The commercial with Malte Aronsson is divided into four different sequences and they were among all the submissions for the competition led by Loopia.

The video below is a teaser trailer for the upcoming feature length sci-fi film Ickerman, directed and produced by Seth Ickerman. Just by the trailer alone, His team have put a lot of effort to make the picture look believable. It's tonnes of CGI and it looks incredible. The cinematography is awesome and the general atmosphere of the picture looks very promising. I've been longing for a real Cyberpunk-movie for years. Now we have to wait until the release.

It could be a hit or miss. But until then, enjoy the teaser trailer of Ickerman.

- I have never been so surprised like today watching this trailer.
This is too good to be true. A low budget trailer with really smooth animations and very well done effects. - I'm speechless.
